Tell him that next year you're going to be able to help him, if he says "ok, sounds great" go to the show. If he says next year he won't be showing -- think about it. It's likely you'll have more time to go to the fair, but the show is a one time opportunity. I would do the show, but that's me. :) this is your decision. Good luck. It may be your last opportunity with this horse, and it sounds like you feel you "missed out" with your friends previously. There is something to be said about sticking to "tradition", but maybe a change is something that would be good for you as well. Strike out on your own, do something for you and your horse.
